South Alive highlights ‘integral’ volunteer team

MANY of South Alive’s volunteers were acknowledged on the 26th June 2020 as part of National Volunteer Week.
The afternoon tea was attended by more than 30 volunteers from the community organisation’s various action groups, including the beautification, fruit and nut, youth, arts, events, housing, trustees, neighbourhoods and pay-it-forward groups.
Trust Board chairwoman Robyn Hickman thanked the volunteers, acknowledging they were “an integral part to South Alive”.
“South Alive is based on a strong volunteer platform.
“You are why we are so strong and a vibrant community in South Invercargill.”
National Volunteer Week was especially significant to highlight the work volunteers did, she said.
As well as helping the community and its people, research had shown volunteering was good for people’s well-being.
Each volunteer also had a choice of a yellow mug with a 9812 letterbox imprinted on it or beanie as a “gift of appreciation”.
